Policemen: they live to protect, serve,...and bully girls?

It is a sad day when policemen can talk to law-abiding citizens with such contempt and disrespect, without bothering to make sure that they have all the facts.  Even more unfortunately, it is happening more and more often.  However, first, let me be perfectly clear, I have nothing but the highest regards for our country's law enforcers.

At least, I did, until tonight. It started over the towing of my car, which was really no big deal, until the utter imbecile working the tow truck started to curse at me and threatened me, which was truly uncalled for. I wanted to ask him some questions as to where I can go to get my car back. He said that I can give him $100 cash, and he won't tow it (talk about sketchy?). Anyway, so I refused to get out of my car, because he really was being quite rude (I would have listened if he had asked nicely).

So, I called the police, hoping to explain the situation to him, but lucky me, I must have gotten the most ignorant, self-important, pompous twit that has ever donned the police uniform coming to the scene. He can barely put a coherent sentence together, and immediately assumed that I am at fault. Meanwhile, I hear narry a curse from the half-wit tow guy, since that would make him a bad guy, now wouldn't it. Well, the policeman didn't bother to listen to what I had to say, and just told me to pay the tow guy or go get it at the impound lot.

Finally, the tow guy demanded my key (I don't know why), at which point my boyfriend asked the police why he needed my key, and guess what the policeman said? "None of your concern." My boyfriend asked again, at which point, the police said that my boyfriend is not allowed to ask him any question...WUT? Last time I checked, this lovely country is a democracy, and government officials are the employees of the people (that includes the president, thank you very much), so I would truly like to hear some respect coming from our brave, honorable, and courageous law enforcers. I can't say that I care for the behavior of this policeman, and I felt bullied.

I know that not all policemen behave in such a way, but I don't think I'll put my trust in them again. I have never been treated that way, and having 2 men ganging up on me left a bad taste in my mouth. I am not naive enough to think that chivalry is still alive and well. I know that it's dead, but for crying out loud, it doesn't make me any less of a lady, and I expect to be treated as such. I am putting this up here, partly to whine about it, but a bigger reason is to get more and more people to be aware that the policemen have a responsibility to protect and serve the people, regardless of age, race, or gender. For them to do any less is vile, and nobody who hasn't done anything wrong should ever have to stand for it.
